Our Humble Vacation

The first week of this month Brian and I took the kids up to his family's cottage on Fish Lake and "vacationed" there. On Tuesday, July 1st, we headed over to Cedar Point with Brian's cousin, Josh, his wife, Cassie, and their kids (Sydnee, almost 11 & Ethan, 8) ... it was the first trip for any of the kids to the big amusement park and they all had a BLAST! We went on The Scrambler first and Paige sat with me and giggled the WHOLE time! She and Nicholas didn't back out on one ride and I wish they could have ridden the bigger rides with us too; Nicholas had his arms up on just about every ride he went on. Cassie and I took Sydnee & Ethan on the Corkscrew (roller coaster--goes upside down) and it was then that we learned that Ethan has a weak stomach like his dad's (we didn't learn *the hard way*, thank goodness!) and Sydnee LOVES roller coasters! We didn't get a chance to ride any others--the lines were too long and the one time we did stand in line for 2 hours, the ride closed right as we got to the platform to ride--but we had fun regardless. The kids enjoyed pretty much every ride in the kid's area and even a few that they were tall enough for otherwise. We'll have to go back in a few years when the kids are tall enough to ride the big rides--I think our little daredevils are going to be PERFECT amusement park buddies!

The rest of the week was relaxing, although the weather didn't really cooperate! We finally got out on the lake on Friday morning and pretty much just spent the day outside. The weekend weather just got better and better and we had a blast with Brian's family!

On July 9th we drove up to Angola, IN with our neighbors, Holly, Sophie & Molly (the dads stayed home) to spend a few days at Holly's parents lake house on Lake Gage. We enjoyed a relaxing couple days and the kids tubed behind the pontoon (I want a pontoon, by the way--never has a boat ride been so relaxing!). It was a nice mini-vacation with some of our very favorite people!

That's about it for our last couple of weeks. Hopefully this catches us up a bit, and Brian and I can go forward with our blogging . . . we'll try!
